Big points for convenience, but NOT a value price
These foods are great. Gerber is timeless, high-quality. Our kids love all the classics: peas, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, applesauce, pears, bananas, apricots w/ mixed fruit, peaches. The size is just right for a growing appetite (6-8 mo+). Anyway, most people must know these products already.

I’m really writing the review to point out that this is NOT a great price. I bought a bunch at $11.99 for most flavors, for 8 packages of 2-count tubs = $1.50 per package. I realized only after the fact that this price is MORE than our local, relatively high-end grocery store. The same foods sell there for 4 packages for $5 or $1.25 a package. And I’m sure I’ll find it more cheaply at a mass market retailer. Buy the food, but don’t buy it here at this price.

(That said, we buy our Pampers from Amazon; diapers are typically competitive with even mass market stores and often cheaper if you use Amazon’s subscription service!)

CustomerReviews

Love it!
I was concerned from reading the negative reviews of the biscuits as a choking hazzard. However, once I bought it and tried it, I no longer worry. These are very hard, so takes a while even for a drooling baby to soften it. I suggest anyone interested to buy one box and try it out. I bought it at Target for less than $2. What a great deal! I am going to stock it up for my baby (and me too.)

This product is a choking hazard!
I chose these as a substitute for zwieback toast, which has apparently been discontinued. Gerber makes a very similar teething biscuit, but after comparing both, I found Earth’s Best to be much healthier. My son LOVES these biscuits, but I will be throwing the rest of them away. For the second time today, he broke off a piece larger than a quarter after sucking on the biscuit for only about a minute. My son is eleven months old and does great with chunky food, but there is no way he would be able to chew these hard biscuits with his gums. I am thankful that I do watch him like a hawk when he eats anything, because this product is dangerous! I will not let my son have these again.

Break Easy
These biscuits are very healthy, but break very easy. My seven month old only has one tooth, and within two minutes of her chewing on these they break! Major choking hazard! I would NOT recommend these biscuits.I love all of the other Earth’s Best products though…

Great product
I love how they come in individual packages. They taste good. I know because I tried one. They’re about as sweet as a graham cracker but as hard as a ginger snap. Like everyone else said, they do get goopy, but babies are messy and the sooner you come to terms with that, the better you’ll be as a mom! Most importantly, they’re not made of horrifying bleached flour or high-fructose corn syrup (still don’t know what that is…). These are the best, so stop wasting your time looking!

Messy, but well-liked
These are definitely messy (but no messier than graham crackers), but they don’t stain anything because there’s no artificial coloring. My son seems to enjoy them very much. They’re nice and hard, so they truly are excellent for teething. I don’t worry as much about my son choking on these as I do when he eats graham crackers. These are difficult to break into pieces small enough to choke on (it can still be done–so always supervise).

Toddler Health
The Toddler Health formula is wonderful. It is difficult to have to wait for it on the waiting list, and takes awhile to ship, but is worth it.

Life saver for toddler with allergies
I ran across this product at a local Whole Foods last year. When I went back to get more, they didn’t carry it anymore. I’ve looked all over Dallas for this stuff and no one carries it. It is the only supplement/formula/protein powder that our 2 year old WILL eat and CAN eat. She is allergic to dairy, wheat, and eggs. She loves it and will drink it to the exclusion of everything else, including juice. It’s worth every penny!! Thanks for carrying everything under the sun, Amazon!

my baby loves this
This formula totally saved us during the transition from nursing. My third had strong allergies to soy and dairy and when we discoved this fabulous product we were totally relieved. He loves the taste and is still asking for it at 2 1/2 years old. The ingredients have been carefully chosen and I appreciate the high nutritional value and clean product list. For moms just trying it out, be patient as the babies take a few tries to get used to the texture. we have really relied on this product and highly recommend it.

From the Creators of Toddler Health
TODDLER HEALTH - THE STORY

Mission: To stand for the health of children everywhere in helping parents find the necessary tools to support them in RAISING HEALTHY AND FIT KIDS physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.

When Dr. Visser was 8 years old, his father passed away from an obesity induced heart attack. Subconsciously it began a profound quest within him in the field of prevention and wellness medicine.

In 1993, Dr. Visser was seeing about 100 patients a day at his clinic. His clinic, Visser Wellness & Research Center is based on treating people holistically.

As a last resort many times, moms would come in to see if he could help their children, who oftentimes, suffered from chronic upper respiratory diseases, poor nutrition, ADD, ADHD and poor or slow developments physically and/or psychologically. Dr. Visser started noticing a pattern in these kids - allergies to dairy, soy and high sugar products. This started for him a journey in seeing what could be done. With his TV show “Wild Medicine”, Dr. Visser was able to travel around the world and work with some of the best minds in the fields of wellness.

The obesity epidemic as well as the nutrient deficient children worldwide in both poor and rich countries became painfully obvious. This is when Dr. Visser and his wife Lin and with the birth of their own child, Kai starting delving deeper into the issue. A trailbrazer in childhood obesity research, Dr. Visser is continually on the forefront of addressing kids’ evolving developmental needs and raising the awareness of proper guidance, movement and nutrition for healthy and fit toddlers and children. Through his recent clinical research on 10,000 children and the obesity pandemic, Dr. Visser has identified a great need for new nutritional options for toddlers.

Dr. Visser embarked on the journey to fill the need for alternative options to dairy, soy, high sugar content foods for parents. In 2000, he started actively putting together a team of healthcare professionals to develop the most innovative and nutritious product line for toddlers and children. With the latest study findings at University of Minnesota, his own research and the guidance of FDA scientist consultants, TODDLER HEALTH product line was created.

The product is designed to eliminate the concerns of parents with regard to the nutrient deficient eating habits and to address the obesity threat that kids face today.

This project is from the heart. Healthy Children make Happy Parents! Thank you for reading “our story” and have a healthy, happy day!

Dr. Richard Visser, Phd

Lin Young Visser

My son loves Toddler Health!
My little boy loves Toddler Health which is great because he doesn’t always like to eat as well as I would like him to. I mix it with rice or almond milk and it’s good to go. As a treat I’ll blend it with some frozen fruit when he’s hankering for ice cream or sweets. It’s nice knowing on the days when he won’t eat one green vegetable that he is covered nutritionally.

awful metallic taste
This particular Gerber Graduate is not one of the line’s best. The spaghetti sauce has a residual metallic taste. Plus, this may or may not be enough for your toddler. Kind of expensive.

gerber no no!
my 16 month old hates these they taste like canned food and the plastic containers they come in are have bpa :( so upsetting!

Expensive and limited
The Graduates entrees are good to experiment with when your little one is first moving on to “real” food - you can gauge the size your toddler’s appetite and his tastes for instance, and they are reasonably well balanced meals. However, there are more drawbacks than benefits in my personal opinion. There are nine varieties, but some are so similar to each other the selection is actually quite limited. Some (the mac & cheese & the pasta/sauce combos) veer too close to the fast food end of the spectrum for me - if your toddler gets hooked on these early you will have a revolt on your hands when you start trying to feed him meat-and-two-veg type meals. Also they are VERY expensive for what they are. The mac & cheese is the worst; Graduates work out at well over $2 per individual meal, while you could easily make a batch and freeze it in single portions at home for about 15-20c per serving.

I found them quite useful as an inspiration to find out what my daughter would eat and how I could cook for her myself; in fact I only ever bought about a half dozen of them and I kept the trays to use for home cooked meals. I imagine it would be useful to keep a few on hand to send to daycare when you don’t have time to make lunch yourself, or for the babysitter to have something easy to feed the kids, or even for last-minute trips to Grandma’s - but I don’t think these alone should be relied on to provide the bulk of a toddler’s meals.

easy and good for you
This product was so great to have on hand when my husband and I are having something my toddler cant eat, such as a spicy pasta dish, etc. Because it has veggies, it makes it a pretty nutricious meal.

No BPA, but price is a bit much
I’ve gotten these for around a dollar per 2-pack at my grocery store, so the price here isn’t that great (though the convenience of them showing at the door might make it worthwhile). But skip for the price, not for the BPA. There is no BPA in them. See their website:

http://www.gerber.com/faq?catid=5225

I know the BPA stuff is scary, but you have to be careful before you put reviews up on websites that scare new mothers for no reason, especially since many mothers use this and don’t need the guilt of thinking they’ve been unknowingly harming their children. I used these packs with my older child and now with my baby, and they are very convenient for diaper-bag use - no breakage! I skip them for home use since they don’t recycle, and our grocery store has a good/cheap organic line packed in glass.

Safe! Do your research!
From the Gerber website:

BPA is not used in making the plastic cups for GERBER® pureed baby food products. It is important to note that even products with the number 7 plastic are not made with BPA, (the number 7 refers to recycling information, not the presence of BPA).

We have confirmed with Gerber that their organic baby food containers are a mix of plastic types numbers 1 and 2 and because they are a mix, they are not recyclable under either such category and are given a number 7 code for recycling. See the ZReport on BPA for more information.

Not BPA free?
I have to agree with the other reviewer that the package is not consistent with the Organic contents. When I looked at the bottom of the container, I was surprised to find that it is made from plastic #7, which is known to leach BPA.

Organic? May be. Safe? No!
They package their product in plastic containers while boiling hot. Does “organic” make sense after that?

Awesome Baby Carrots!
My daughter LOVES these carrots. I like to make my own baby food, but with all the concerns about nitrate levels in vegetables - specifically carrots - I choose to buy these pre-made since I know that Gerber screens for nitrates in all their products. These have a great consistency and are not too thick, and not too thin. I’ve even tasted them and they are quite good. They have a rich, fresh carrot flavor that doesn’t resemble over-cooked, canned carrots. I highly recommend these.
